It's been a while...

I finally posted a video earlier today on my YouTube channel AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

That was my first custom thumbnail. I hope you like.

I also filmed two more videos which I will be uploading within the next few weeks - I'm trying to get some regularity into my channel, you see.

SuperNote!

I thought I'd have a go at a SuperNote for danisnotonfire's team: THE LLAMARMY.

I have a feeling that my note was too quiet and I have probably been disqualified. Ahh well... that's what you get for not reading the rules first, Laura.

NEW PHONE!!!!!!

OMG I GOT A NEW PHONE!!!!!

Because the iPhone 5 was released recently, the price of the iPhone 4S went down by a fair bit so my dad bought me and my brother one each for doing well in our exams and also for our birthday presents!!!! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!! (Our birthdays are in November but we don't say no to an early present haha!)

It's such a step up from my previous Samsung U600 that I've had for 5 years that I felt that I should express my excitement! All I need now is a few funky cases...

Back to normal, I hope!

I just uploaded a video to my YouTube channel! It's just a catchup vlog 'cause I've not vlogged for aaaaaages:

Also, the lighting is really bad, I know, but just try to ignore it, please!

Oh God. I'm sorry.

Oh dear... where to start...

I'm sorry I've been away from this blog and my YouTube Channel for sooo long (if you even watch me on Youtube!); I have an excuse.

I just started school again after about 4 months off and it seemed that it was a bit of a shock to the system. A-Levels are quite a big step up from GCSEs and I don't think I was mentally prepared for it all so I've been spending a lot of my free time doing homework, research, etc... ALREADY!

I plan to make a timetable of when I can film and edit videos and update this blog without having to neglect my schoolwork; I'm trying to find a balance so that I can do it all!

At the moment, I'm thinking that in half term I may record a fair few videos (I have two weeks off, so lots of time for YouTube!) so that during school term time I can stagger uploads so they aren't as irregular as they are at the moment. I have so much that I want to do on my channel and I keep getting new ideas all the time; I just need to sort out when to fit everything in.

Hope that clears everything up!

:D

School. Urgh.

I can't believe summer is over! It felt as if it would never end and I was starting to get bored, but now that I have school tomorrow I want summer to start all over again! :(

I'm going away on a trip on the first day of sixth form this year to a university for 3 days to do team building activities with my new form... fun times. We have to do some form of sport and go to a formal dinner - effort.

Therefore, I will have no contact with the Internet until the weekend so I will not be able to upload any videos or write a blog post until I return. Sorry!

GCSE Results! AAAAARRRGGGHHHHH!

So today, I got my GCSE results. Even though I know that GCSEs aren't as important as A-Levels in the long run, I still felt myself get extremely nervous, probably because it was my first ever proper official results day, as I made my way into the school library to find the envelope labelled "Laura Owens" containing the most important piece of paper in my life so far. My heart was pounding as I walked through crowds of people celebrating and hugging. My friend Josh whispered, "Good luck, Laura" to me just before I caught sight of my envelope. I took it over to a quieter spot and my hands were shaking as I pulled the paper out. Here is what I saw (well not exactly what I saw, just a simpler version because there were a lot of components with grades on the page too so I thought I would type them out to make it easier for y'all to read) :

(IGCSE) English Literature: A*
(IGCSE) English Language: A
(IGCSE) Mathematics: A*
(IGCSE) Chemistry: A*
Biology: A*
Graphic Design: A* (holy frick, I got full marks :O )
German: A*
Spanish A*
Latin: A* (YAY!!! I worked my bum off for this subject!)

Note: The ones labelled "IGCSE" were international so that meant apparently they were harder than standard GCSEs. :)

So, overall, I got 8A*s and 1A :) (stupid English Language AAAAAARRRRR- aha I joke, I joke, I was so relieved to just not see any Cs or Ds on that piece of paper!) pheww.....

After my parents had finished chatting to their fellow parents, my family and I went for lunch at the same place we went to last week to celebrate my brother getting into university because I loved the food there so much and I got to choose the restaurant! It was yummy.

I had the same as last time except for starter I had garlic bread with cheese and they gave me a complimentary non-alcoholic cocktail as we were celebrating :)

Here's the link to the blog post where I told you what I had to eat the first time! http://www.missosolaura.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/yesterday-was-awesome.html

Then I came home and got beaten in a sprint race by a six-year-old. Nice one, Laura.

I seriously need a new hobby...

Having shopping as a favourite hobby is having a very large impact on my purse... Thank goodness it's nearly school time again so I won't have as much spare time as I do at the moment; maybe it'll give me some time to save up again.

Mind you, I do have two weeks of holiday pay from my paper round which might need spending...

No. Don't do it, Laura. Save the money for London.

Ooh yes, you're right. I'll do that...

In the meantime, here's what I squandered all my cash on recently:

^ Nice face. ^

Brave was epic!

Today, a friend and I went to the cinema to see Disney's Brave!

Personally, I am not a total Disney fanatic and I wasn't sure what this film was going to be like. But I really liked the storyline and the characters and especially the soundtrack. Oh my gosh, the music was so amazing! I got goosebumps!

If you aren't sure whether to go and see it I would definitely recommend it - for all ages!

Yesterday was awesome!

First of all, I was woken up by a text from my dad at 8:10 saying that my brother had done really well in his A-Levels and will be going to uni! Woop woop! I caught up on some TV before my parents and brother came back from collecting his results and then I had a bath in preparation for going out for lunch to celebrate the good news!

We got a taxi (presumably so the fam could get a little tipsy and not have to worry about driving home) to a nice Italian restaurant called Eden in the centre of town and because it was the middle of the day, no one else was in the restaurant so all our food came very promptly :) I had cauliflower and mozzarella soup which was interesting... I liked the bread that came with it though! Then for the main, I had a gorgeous margarita pizza which was yummy! Pudding was obviously chocolate fudge cake and I had a few J2Os and a sip of champagne during the meal.

Then we left the restaurant and headed to the bus station to get the bus home because apparently it was cheaper than getting a taxi home. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the bus to arrive so I went to T.K.Maxx in the shopping centre next door to see if there were any bargains there. There was a small final clearance section at the back where I saw a knitted jumper on sale for 20p! I saw some packs of Essie, Revlon and O.P.I. nail polishes reduced quite a lot but I had no money with me so I couldn't get anything; darn it!

We caught the bus home, which actually cost more than getting a taxi home, it took longer because the bridge was off and when we finally got to our bus stop we had to walk from the bus stop to our house so we all learnt a valuable lesson about public transport there.

When we got in, we all sat and watched Paranormal Activity 3 because my mum insisted that we watch it while it was still light outside. It was kinda freaky but having seen the first too films it wasn't as bad, because I knew what to expect. I probably went on YouTube after that and caught up on videos from that day until it was teatime. We still weren't that hungry, however, so we just had a couple of slices of bread each and some brownie bites :D yum!

We watched Final Destination 5 as well after that, which was way more gory than the first film and it was clever how it linked back to the first film too. Then I went to bed.

All in all it was a nice family day out (and in). I hope we can have another day together like that next week when I get my results...

YouTube is a legend.

YAY! Look what YouTube told me!
"Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes."

I then looked up how it had happened and an awesome website told me this:
"This elimination of 15 minute restriction is being awarded as a bonus to users who have been nice."

YAY! YOUTUBE THINKS I'M NICE!

Ooh, I almost forgot: NEW VIDEO!

New Nail Polish & Reviews!

I made a trip to Superdrug and Topshop the other day and collected the following nail polishes! Therefore, I decided that I would show you them and try a written review rather than a talky-talky review on my Youtube Channel!

________________________________________________________________________________

There was an offer on Barry M nail polishes: 2 for £5, so I bought...

--> Peach Melba (318)

I saw this colour on missglamorazzi's (on Youtube) recent London + Paris haul video and I had been looking for ages for a really pretty, peachy colour to wear on my nails. I already have a coral coloured polish but it's quite a bit darker than this so when I saw Ingrid (that's her name) show this in her video, I was like "I have to get this colour next time I go to Superdrug!"

--> Indigo (312)

This was also featured on Ingrid's haul video. It's a really beautiful, deep blue colour which I think would be great for winter because it's such a dark colour. As with the peach, I have been looking for a dark blue polish for a long time as I just don't have one in my collection and Ingrid reminded me that I needed one!

_________________________________________________________________________________

There was an offer on NYC polishes too: 2 for £2.49 (I think!), so I chose...

--> Grand Central Station (202) - it's just a clear polish

--> Lexington Yellow (294)

I desperately needed a clear nail polish because my previous one went completely solid after I used it up so the brush wouldn't touch what was left of it in the bottom of the bottle...

As it was 2 for £2.49, I decided to get another colour to get better value for money so I chose a yellow mainly because none of the other colours really stood out to me. I think NYC polishes are great because you get quite a large bottle of pretty good quality nail polish for a cheap price. Initially, I wasn't too excited about this yellow but when I put it on my nails, I just really liked it. I've seen a lot of yellow accessories in shops recently so I thought this would be a cool colour to match with those items. Also, it's a nice bright colour for what is left of the summer!

________________________________________________________________________________

I also bought my first ever nail polish from Topshop. It was one from the metallic range worth £6: Amethyst.

Firstly, I just want to say how much I love the packaging. I really like the spotty lid because it makes it instantly recognisable as a polish from Topshop and the design on the front of the actual bottle is really simple and I just like the font!

I've been looking for a multi-tonal nail polish for some time and I couldn't find one in drugstores like Superdrug and Boots, and I remembered that Topshop sold nail polishes so I checked out what they had on their website and Voila! I found the whole metallics range! There were a couple of other multi-tonal nail polishes on the website like Eclipse and Hidden Treasure which looked pretty cool but I decided to just pick one to start off with.
I really like how the polish looks in the bottle, with the purpley colour in the centre with brown, and maybe slightly green edges; I think it looks great. So I tried it on my nails.

Looking straight at the nail, it just looks like a shimmery purple colour, but when you move your finger and catch it in different lights it changes and you see the browny colour. Over the years I have collected a fair few purple nail polishes and I think the multi-tonal element to this one makes it much prettier and just more interesting!

I won't be purchasing Topshop nail polishes all the time, but every now and again shouldn't be too hard a hit on my purse!

FINALLY GOT A JACKET!!!

Just uploaded a video; the second part of the Black Jacket story!

Friday, 10 August 2012

It's all nearly over...

I actually cannot believe that the London 2012 Olympic Games are almost all finished. :( It seems like only yesterday when I was waiting in line in the canteen at school for some lunch and looking at the poster on the wall that said "1000 days to go!". So many hundreds of days of build-up and it's all over within a couple of weeks...

Anyway... life goes on.

Thursday, 9 August 2012

So... many... subscriptions...

Oh my gosh! I can't believe I have spent a full 3 days getting up to date with all the videos in my Youtube subscription box! Finally I have achieved this almost-impossible task and now I know to never leave my computer's side for more than a week ever again.

Wednesday, 8 August 2012

Chill guys! I've been away...

The reason I have been neglecting this blog for about 2 weeks now is because I have been away on holiday. I'm sorry... :(

But I'm home now so it's back to normal blogging and uploading videos again on my Youtube Channel: MissOSoLaura.

I have been posting pictures on Instagram during my holiday (I went to Prague with the fam) so you could go check them out if you want; my Instagram is "lavidadelaura".

Also, I just uploaded a new video to Youtube! I filmed it a while ago but didn't get round to editing it before going away so here it is:

It's sunny!

Wow. The weather in England is actually good for a change.

Look at the (almost) absence of clouds!

Thursday, 19 July 2012

I finished the game!

Yay! I finished Assassin's Creed: Revelations today! Well, the storyline, anyway.

The ending was so cool; everything linked together from the past 3 games really well. Now I am just going back and collecting all the little sparkly things all over the town, using a lot of parachutes and trying to complete everything to full synchronisation.

Can't wait for Assassin's Creed 3 now!!! :D

Haircut.

I just put up a new video on my Youtube Channel! It would be cool if you checked it out... :D

New stuff!

I got up this morning, had my brekky and went upstairs to get changed and ready for the day ahead. When I came down, my package from Amazon had arrived, YAY!!! I ripped it open excitedly to discover my new things:

--> Looking for Alaska (the first novel by epic youtuber and writer John Green)
--> Mockingjay necklace inspired by The Hunger Games franchise

I am so excited about this stuff! I can't wait to read the book and I love the necklace!!!

Scarecrow!

Last week when I went for my li'l two hour "shift' at the local Age UK shop, the lady in charge was like, "hey, dya wanna help make a scarecrow for the festival?"

"uhh, okay...?!" was my reply.

She ripped apart a random duvet that she found upstairs in the shop and had me stuffing tights with the destroyed duvet in the middle of the shop. Many customers came and went with odd looks on their faces as we dressed the new legs in socks and shoes and put a stripey dress over a fat cushion. I had to leave before it was finished but when I went back to the charity shop earlier today for my two hours I saw this:

Pretty scary, huh??

DofE tips on my Youtube Channel

I posted a new video on MissOSoLaura earlier today.

It's an extremely minimalistic and practical makeup tutorial to wear on DofE and there's some extra stuff at the end of the video about what else to take in your wash kit.

Check it out...??

So *hiccup* many *hiccup* hiccups!!!

Today I have been tidying/rearranging the stuff in my room and getting rid of things that I don't need anymore. I created even more of a mess in my room before I could start to organise everything into my wardrobe and drawers etc... My desk is still a complete mess but I can finally see my carpet again YAY!!!!! :D

I got the hiccups about 5 times today; I blame the dust... and my mum for making me laugh so hard that my hiccups would start again...

Monday, 9 July 2012

Yesssss...

:)

So close...

OMG! I'm so close to having 2000 video views on my Youtube Channel, see:

Does anyone else find it sooooo annoying when something ends in a load of nines and you are one off achieving something. Well, it's happened to me.

I long for the beautiful roundedness of those zeros so much.

Sunday, 8 July 2012

So... I'm broke.

Why do I feel the need to spend so much money all the time?? I really enjoy shopping and buying stuff and getting it home and being like, "ahhh, it's all mine now..." But now I have practically no money left. Nice one, Laura.

What's going on?!?!

Okay... I don't normally like mainstream music; I prefer unknown Youtube artists with amazing original songs but I actually really like the new Katy Perry song: Wide Awake.

It has quite deep lyrics and a great tune; it's not a really upbeat crazy dance-y happy song like some of her others. I'm just worried that I will listen to it constantly and get sick of it... :/ that's usually what I do and it ruins some awesome music for me...

Anyways... here is the video about how Silver DofE was for me:

I'M BACK!!!

So, I am back from my final D of E expedition and my group and I passed, YAY!!!

It rained quite a lot while we were away so a lot of my kit got wet but the sun came out a bit and it was fun cooking and camping with my group. I will probably be filming a video tomorrow about my D of E experience as it was pretty eventful.

Also, I had my final GCSE exam (it was a German paper) on the day I went off to D of E so I have now officially finished all my exams YAY!!!

I am so glad to be back home now and to have 2 months of completely free time to do whatever the heck I want!

:D

Tuesday, 26 June 2012

Last video before D of E :(

So, tomorrow I am going on a D of E expedition until Saturday :( I will be away from my computer and the Internet for, like, 4 days... how will I cope?

Anyways, here is my latest video expressing my sadness about leaving:

Biology themed workout sesh with screaming fajitas?!?!

I had my last two biology exams today. Thank the holy lord. They were multiple choice so I did absolutely zilch revision for it because I just ceebed (AKA: couldn't be ars- bothered).

Loads of people came out going "YAY I'VE FINISHED ALL MY GCSE EXAMS!" and me and a group of other people were stood there like, "Yehh, we've still got german." Awks.

Then after I got home, I went to the gym for a bit of a workout with my dad. I hadn't been for a couple of months so I thought I should try hard to sort of make up for not going for so long.

Later on I had tea with my parents which was fajitas YAY!!! (brother dearest was out at a social event thing at school so he missed them mwahahahaha.)

Then we watched Scream 4, which I found hilarious. There is something about gory horror films that I simply find ridiculously funny, just because of all the blood and guts and stuff ;) It was kinda confusing at the start because it was like a film within a film within a film, sort of like Inception but far more gruesome (and with films instead of dreams) and all the way through we were all like "She's the killer!" and "He's the killer!" and we all ended up being wrong.

Thursday, 21 June 2012

Today was a really good day :)

Today, I filmed, edited, musicified and voiceovered my video response to Landon Austin's 'Today Was A Really Good Day' vlog. I am really proud of it and it would be cool if you checked it out...

I made another video without the narrative because I liked how the video I made went with the song I chose so...

YAY NEW BLOG TITLE!!!

Such a busy day! For me anyways...

I got up at 8am this morning so that I could have breakfast and get ready to do my paper round at 8:30. I set off delivering newspapers and got back at about 10am with about 35 left to deliver later.

Then I had a bath (shower's broken) and revised Latin until 11am, when I left to go to school because my dad had to get back home for a conference call at 12. We went past school to get me a sandwich from Hampsons and then I got dropped off at school. I went to the library to revise for a bit, I ate my sandwich (which was huge and yummy) and then I went to the exam at 1:15.

I sat the hour long exam, which was fine and it was my last Latin exam EVER!!! SO HAPPY!!! Then I hung around, waiting for the bus for an hour and a half, whilst revising biology for Friday. I got on the bus at 3:45 and was surprised that my friend was on the bus too (she had had an afternoon performance of some random play thing that she did the flute in or something) so I wasn't just sat alone listening to my iPod :)

I got home and went straight out again to finish my paper round; I was literally running from house to house to get it finished! I got to this house with a big pond where all the ducks go and there was an oldish couple sat outside looking at the pond. I went across the drive to deliver the newspaper through the front door but the oldish man got up and offered for me to give the paper to him because he was nearer than the door. I gave it to him and then said thanks for taking it and he said,

"Say hello to the ducks."

I walked away sort of mumbling hi half to myself and half to the ducks; I was slightly discombobulated... (cool word, eh? Means confused.)

Finally I got home, went on my computer and typed this blog. I am currently looking forward to tea and watching Coronation Street afterwards YAY :D

Tuesday, 19 June 2012

My blog has a mind of its own.

So, I just came onto my blog to add a new post and the fonts have all changed.

>:(

I don't know why they changed. I have tried to get the old fonts back but if I change them back on the 'Customise' section, it doesn't show up right on the actual blog. So now I have to use really boring fonts.

I may try making a header with the blog title in it myself and then upload it so it can be all funky and awesome.

Hmmmmmm............

A Very German Day.

Today, my mum was working and my dad was away so neither of them could take me into school for my afternoon german exam. This meant that I had to go into school on the bus and wait for 4 hours for my exam. :'(

I spent 3 hours revising vocab solidly in the same seat in the library without any breaks. It was really weird because I didn't even get hungry, and I always get hungry when I get up that early for school.

Anyway, I got a sandwich from the canteen at lunch and I had about 2 bites of it before my exam just in case my tummy started rumbling during it (it's happened before... and more than once - not good).

I had the exam. Jeez... that was a tough one. I messed up on a lot of questions but I think I got some right at least, so... we'll see how I did on results day. Can't wait.

Then, as our german teacher had previously organised a lesson for the afternoon straight after this german listening exam to go over reading exam past papers, I went to the lesson because I had nothing better to do. And guess what we did... MORE GERMAN. Oh, joy of joys; I was ecstatic to be experiencing more of this beautiful, flowing language.
-_-

Then I went to the library to wait for the bus to arrive at school.

Today was a very german day.

Sunday, 17 June 2012

The sky is pink!

My day today simply consisted of breakfast, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, bloggin', lunch, Youtube, bloggin', Facebook, tea, so much more Youtube and very little vocabulary revision for my german exam tomorrow. Ahh well...

But it just turned quarter to 10 ish and I looked out the window and this is what I saw:

THE SKY IS PINK. :D
I love the sky when it goes pink, just when the sun is setting. It is definitely one of my favourite times of the day. B-E-A-UTIFUL.

Trooping the silver TV on Youtube playing the guitar with glee. And hats.

This morning, as like every Saturday morning, I got up at 8am to go work in one of the local charity shops for a couple of hours as part of my Silver D of E award.

I came back home afterwards and watched part of the Trooping The Colour on TV for the Queen's official birthday, which was slightly repetitive but also strangely cool. I just really enjoy the guards' huge, black, furry hats. :D

I spent most of the rest of the day on Youtube and practising the guitar, instead of revising vocab for my german exam on Monday :/ I'll just do it tomorrow...

Then, seeing as there was not much on TV this Saturday night, I watched 5 episodes of the first season of Glee back to back from my box set. Sadly, it's time for bed now!

Another shopping trip

I went shopping again today haha...

I filmed this video which includes a haul and some other stuff:

Enjoy and don't judge the guitar at the end... I'm a total novice. ;)

Vloggin' day

Not a bad forecast for today here in England. Better than yesterday, anyway, when I delivered my newspapers in the rain, fun times...

Planning on going shopping today while my mum is at the dentist getting her tooth fixed and then I should be filming a video later YAY!!! I've not done one for over a week due to extreme cramming for my exams. But I've got a few days before my next one on Monday so today is a vloggin' day!!!

It's Prom!!!

Sorry this prom post is a bit late but it's here now so... whatevs... ;)

I wasn't particularly looking forward to prom but it was really good. It was really chilled out so I didn't feel as uncomfortable as I thought I would.

The food was alright. The starter was broccoli soup with soggy cheesy bread floating in it
-_- But the bread on the side dish was tasty :) The main was chicken leg and a bit of bacon and mash. There was a dish of vegetables plonked in the middle of our table so I had 3 carrots so my mum would be happy haha... Pudding was sticky toffee pudding which was yummy!

There was a speech by someone in our year then some jokey awards were given out, which was quite entertaining. I was nominated for the Most Likely To Become President, Most Likely To Win A Nobel Prize and Most Likely To Get Into Hogwarts awards, which I was quite pleased with. I didn't win any but my friend won the Hogwarts one - haha she deserved that one! True Potter fan! Then they showed a slideshow of photos from over the past 5 years of everyone in our year which was really nice. After that we went to the dancefloor and DJ area to have a party wooooooo!!!!! There was helium in the balloons so a load of us got them and made our voices squeaky which was hilarious!! Shame about the helium shortage on the planet...

Here's some photos of me and friends at prom:

AAAARRRRRRGGHH!!!!!
It's so hard to align photos on this blog...

Anyways... it was good and if you are like I was and totally not looking forward to it and are completely adamant that you are not going at all ever, just go. It's a lot better than you think it will be. Well, my school's was...

Prom Preparation

So my school's prom for Fifth Years / Year 11s / 15-16-year-olds is tomorrow night.

Naturally, I spent all day yesterday shopping for stuff to go with my dress and all day today trying my dress on multiple times while my mum adjusted it for me (because I'm short) because I am so very organised and prepared.

I can't say I'm particularly looking forward to it. I'm not a bubbly, sociable person who likes dressing up in long dresses and having their hair done. I just can't bear the attention or the fuss.

However, I am getting ready beforehand with some friends and staying over at a friend's house too. So it should be alright, I guess.

I'll update you with how it went on Friday. Wish me luck.

The Olympic Torch

So, I went to Liverpool yesterday to see the Olympic Torch as it passed through the city.

It was pretty cool being only metres away from it. You can see some footage of the Torch in Liverpool on my latest video:

When I came home after the little trip out, my mum, dad, brother and I went to Nando's for a chicken burger and chips. I had a huge piece of very rich chocolate cake which made me feel so sick by the time I finished it haha...
